'Thudakkam' Trailer: Vismaya Mohanlal To Get An Action-Packed Debut?

Four days before the release of Thudakkam on August 7, the makers of the film released an action-packed trailer that features elements of both a family drama and a thriller. It is the launch film for actress Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Malayalam cinema’s legendary actor Mohanlal. In the trailer, we see the life of the character being played by Vismaya, with actor Sai Kumar playing her father.

The setting is remote, and it appears to be a hilly region. Other characters are shown in glimpses, including Mohanlal himself, reportedly in a cameo. Producer Anthony Perumbavoor’s son, Ashish Joe, also makes a full-length acting debut in Thudakkam, which means "beginning." The trailer also shifts from a family setting to a violent one midway. 

In a press meet that followed, Vismaya was asked if the film would feature action scenes, specifically like the ones that her father has done earlier. Mohanlal was quick to take over the microphone and add that it would, joking that it might not be in the same intensity as his. He also said that the stunt choreographers of the film are among the best in the business, naming Stunt Silva and Yannick Ben, suggesting that the film would surely feature fight scenes. Vismaya’s transformation in the second half could even be the highlight of the film. 

The film's screenplay is written by Linish Nellikkal, Akhil Krishna and Jude. Its technical crew comprises Akhil George and Jomon T John as cinematographers, editor Chaman Chakko, composer Jakes Bejoy, and sound design by Vishnu Govind. Jude said that Thudakkam will be different from his previous films and chose to call it a family entertainer, which would be a proper “Thudakkam” or beginning for Vismaya Mohanlal. His last release as a director was in 2018, a blockbuster that went on to break all box-office records.
