Unni Mukundan to Direct a Superhero Film Written by Midhun Manuel Thomas
The film is currently in its pre-production stages and will go on floors next year.
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan is all set to make his directorial debut. The actor will be collaborating with popular Malayalam screenwriter Midhun Manuel Thomas to make his superhero dreams a reality. The superhero film will go on the floors next year.
In an Instagram post, the actor wrote about his love for the genre and announced the news. “The kid in me grew up believing in legends. Drawn to stories of courage, sacrifice, and magic. I found my heroes not just in books, movies, folk stories, tiny action figures but also in my dreams. Growing up in the era of superheroes, often dismissed as mythical, make-believe, or too far-fetched. I ended up being a thorough day dreamer…That kid, never really grew up. And more importantly, he never gave up dreaming,” his post read, accompanied by a picture of him posing beside his enviable action figure collection.
The film will be produced by Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies, with V. C. Praveen and Baiju Gopalan serving as co-producers. The actor added that he will begin his duties for the film after completing his commitments for his Telugu cinema work. The film will be released in all prominent Indian languages, and is set to go on floors next year.
Mukundan was last seen in Haneef Adeni’s Marco as a menacing gangster who sets off to avenge the murder of his foster brother. The Malayalam actioner quickly emerged as the Christmas winner (released on December 21st last year), and enjoyed overwhelming success in North India. It became the highest-grossing Hindi-dubbed Malayalam film of all time, going past several bigger Malayalam titles.
