Vipin Kumar, Unni Mukundan’s manager, had alleged that he was fired from his position for posting a positive message about Tovino Thomas’ 'Narivetta'.
Unni Mukundan has been summoned by the magistrate to appear on September 27 in connection with an assault case, according to a a report on Manorama News.
This case was filed by his ex-manager, Vipin Kumar, in May. Vipin Kumar, who claims to have worked with actor Unni Mukundan for a period of six years, recently called on the media to reveal how he was allegedly attacked and abused by the actor, for posting a positive note about actor Tovino Thomas’ film Narivetta (2025).
Mukundan, however, was quick to respond to these allegations in a statement. The actor denied assaulting Vipin and added that he had clarified the entire incident with Tovino as well. “Vipin has taken actions that seem intended to tarnish my reputation. It's impossible to explain the shock and pain when someone you've been close to for years suddenly turns against you," he said. He further added that the accusation was propaganda meant to harm both him and Tovino. "I personally called Tovino and explained everything; he understood the situation. We've been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond."
Last week, THR India had reported the launch of a new biopic about Indian PM Narendra Modi, starring Unni Mukundan. Kranthi Kumar CH is directing the film, and the title of the film is Maa Vande: The Anthem Of A Mother. The film aims to portray the rise of the politician as seen through the lens of his mother, Heeraben Modi. The first-look poster shows a glimpse of the PM signing with India’s parliament in the background. A caption reads, “A mother’s courage is stronger than many battles…” a quote by Narendra Modi. This further hints at the film potentially being a personal story of the leader.
Among Unni Mukundan's latest releases are Marco (2024) and Get-Set Baby (2025).
