Vetrimaaran, Mari Selvaraj, Gautham Menon Join Hands With VELS Film International For New Film Slate
The Chennai-based studio announces a diverse film lineup with major directors and stars, alongside plans for studio construction, content development, and theatre acquisitions.
Production house VELS Film International has announced a new slate of films set to go into production between 2025 and 2027, featuring collaborations with several prominent directors and actors from across the Indian film industry.
The lineup was revealed through a video released on the studio’s official social media channels and includes projects by filmmakers such as Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mari Selvaraj, Vetrimaaran, Prem Kumar, Jude Anthany Joseph, and Sundar C. It also marks the directorial debut of YouTuber VJ Siddhu.
Among the actors leading these upcoming films are Dhanush, Ravi Mohan, Nayanthara, and Vishnu Vishal. The studio says it is in discussions with several new directors and emerging talent, with plans to support more debut features in the years ahead.
“This lineup represents our next chapter—bigger, bolder, and focused on delivering impactful storytelling,” said Dr Ishari K. Ganesh, Chairman of VELS Film International. “We are proud to partner with the best creative minds and bring cinema that will resonate with audiences across platforms and languages.”
VELS has previously backed films such as Comali, Mookuthi Amman, LKG, and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. It now plans to expand its presence across the content ecosystem through in-house development, pan-India collaborations, and digital-first projects.
The company is also investing in infrastructure and distribution. Construction is underway on what VELS says will be India’s largest indoor studio floor in Chennai, and it is pursuing the acquisition of additional studio spaces in the city.
In Karnataka, the company operates Vels Jollywood, a film-themed park and studio. Additionally, it is looking to acquire theatres across smaller cities as part of a strategy to gain more control over distribution and exhibition. The moves are part of a wider effort to reposition VELS as a full-spectrum media company, with integrated capabilities across production, distribution, and exhibition.
