Vikram's Next Is With '96' Director Prem Kumar
The film will be produced by Ishari K Ganesh's Vels Film International.
Tamil actor's Vikram's next film has been confirmed. The actor will be collaborating with filmmaker C. Prem Kumar, known for 96 (2018) and Meiyazhagan (2024). Ishari K Ganesh will produce the Tamil film. Makers, Vels Film International, announced this news on X on Thursday (July 16).

While fans of Prem Kumar's heartfelt cinema were expecting a sequel to Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha's 96 next, the announcement came in on Wednesday as a pleasant surprise. In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the filmmaker confirmed that he will soon work on a sequel to the star-crossed romance. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha, the Tamil film followed the reunion of two former school classmates 22 years after they graduated, over one night of talking, reminiscing and revoking feelings of unrequited love. 96 was a massive success, and also led to remakes in Kannada as 99 (2019) and Telugu as Jaanu (2020).
"Currently, I'm writing the sequel to 96. I've already written about three-fourths of the script. I'm just continuing the writing process," confirmed Prem Kumar during a roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter India. Prem Kumar's most recent film, Meiyazhagan, was released in 2024 and starred actors Karthi and Arvind Swamy.
Production house VELS Film International recently announced a new slate of films set to go into production between 2025 and 2027, featuring collaborations with several prominent directors and actors from across the Indian film industry.
The lineup was revealed through a video released on the studio’s official social media channels and includes projects by filmmakers such as Vignesh Raja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mari Selvaraj, Vetrimaaran, Prem Kumar, Jude Anthany Joseph, and Sundar C.
Vikram, on the other hand, was last seen in Arun Kumar's Veera Dheera Sooran (2025).
