The release date was announced when the makers met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday. "Met one of my favorite Hero Sri. @myogiadityanath ji. He was gracious to launch the date announcement poster of #Kannappa. Gifted him a painting of Ramesh Gorijala. Such a Humble and powerful aura he has. Kannappa on June 27th. #HarHarMahadev," Manchu wrote.
Manchu has also co-written and produced Kannappa, which is based on the second-century story of a devotee of Lord Siva.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa also stars Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal in prominent roles. Kannappa will be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.
Earlier, Manchu had revealed that the film had to be pushed as the team needed a few more weeks to "perfect a key episode requiring extensive VFX work".
"Kannappa is a tribute to Lord Shiva's greatest devotee, and we want to present it in the most extraordinary way possible. Our team is working tirelessly, and we promise it will be worth it," he had tweeted.
