This week brings a fresh lineup of releases. Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor team up for the first time on screen in a crime-thriller. Also hitting the theatres this week is Vibe, helmed by Kunal Kemmu as a writer, director and producer, and starring Preity Zinta. Rounding out the week are several South releases across Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, with Mammootty making a special appearance in a crime-drama.

Hindi

Daayra

Directed by Meghna Gulzar (Sam Bahadur, Raazi) Daayra stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. The film follows DCP Raman Kumar (Prithviraj) and DCP Anjooni Kohli (Kapoor) as they find themselves on the opposite sides of the same controversial case and the same system.

The film is set to arrive in theatres on September 18.

Vibe

Directed, written and produced by Kunal Kemmu, Vibe brings together Kemmu, Priety Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir in lead roles. In the film, Kemmu plays Hardik and Shrivastava plays Bugs, two ordinary friends leading ordinary lives who find themselves handed a high-stakes mission by Madam H (Zinta) as the nation faces a looming threat, even though they barely understand what they have signed up for.

Vibe will release in theatres on September 18.

Love Lottery

Love Lottery is a suspense drama headlined by Akshay Oberoi as Kartik Saxena and Heli Daruwala as Bharani Verma. After Bahrani is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the police arrest Kartik as the prime suspect. When the matter goes to court and the trial unfolds, hidden secrets and contradictory testimonies pull the case apart, turning what looked like a simple murder trial into a riveting mystery. The film will release on September 18.

Tamil

Enna Vilai

Enna Vilai is directed by National Award-winning director Sajeev Pazhoor. It centers on gold pendant that washes ashore and upends the life of Thavasi (Karunas), a humble fisherman. While the possession of the pendant initially feels like blessing, it slowly turns into a case of false accusation, pulling him into a fight against a corrupt system to protect his family.

Starring Karunas and Nimisha Sajayan, who most recently headlined the crime thriller Babita Singh Reporting, the film will release in theatres on September 17.

The horror-thriller unfolds around a medical college in a village that has stood sealed for 15 years and becomes the center of an unsettling mystery. As science and superstition clash, an inexplicable anomaly challenges everything they believed to be true.

The film stars Chaithra Achar, Charan Lakkaraju, Surya Raj Veerabathini, Ramesh Indira, Preethi Pagadala and Shashank Patil. Directed by Kirtan Nadagouda, the 418 will release in theatres on September 18.

Malayalam

Law and Order

This Malayalam crime-drama follows a police officer and five young recruits in Kochi as they take on criminals. Directed by Ranjith and written by Udaykrishna, it features an ensemble cast led by Prakash Varma, with Mammootty making a special appearance.

Law and Order will release in theatres on September 18.

The Uprising

Starring Andrew Garfield in the lead role, The Uprising is set during the English Peasants' Revolt of 1381. The story follows a lone farmer named Ploughman (Garfield) who rises up to lead a rebellion against the Crown forces of a then 14-year-old King Richard II. The film features an ensemble cast which also includes Jamie Bell as the rebel priest John Ball, Cosmo Jarvis as military leader Wat Tyler, Thomasin McKenzie as Alyce, Woody Norman as the boy king Richard II and Katherine Waterson the Countess and Richard II's mother.

Written and directed by Paul Greengrass, the film will release in theatres across India on September 18.

Resident Evil

Resident Evil follows an ill-fated courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital, only to find himself caught in the middle of an outbreak, fighting through hordes of mutated creatures in order to survive.

Directed by Zach Cregger, the film stars Austin Abrams, Paul Walter Hauser and Zach Cherry in lead roles. Resident Evil is set to release in theatres on September 18.
