During a recent interview conducted by The Hollywood Reporter India, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vicky Kaushal spoke to each other about acting, fame, family, dealing with success and failure, and much more.

Vicky asked Kareena the details of a famous story he'd heard from Karan Johar once, about what happened on the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) two decades ago.

"Karan Johar's stories are very scary. And I don't know if they're even true or false! Depending on when and where he's told you this...," Kareena laughed, asking Vicky what the tale was.

Kareena's character of Poo in the film has become iconic as a style icon in the decades since, but Vicky pointed out an unlikely scene which impressed him the most.

"So what I heard from him was that — on K3G — apparently you gave a great shot at a funeral scene, of crying and really feeling bad about the death and everything. And after the scene was done, you were like, 'By the way, who died?!' I laughed so much when I heard it for the first time. Is this true?" grinned Vicky.

Kareena answered that she was around 20 years old then and doesn't remember if this was true. "I don't know when this happened... I'm denying it," she replied, smiling.

Vicky then told her, "Listen, it's the greatest thing you can do as a performer. No backstory needed... nothing. If it was me, we would be looming with this cloud of sadness for two days going into this scene where somebody has died — we got to imagine the backstories and all of that. But you didn't need all that and managed to cry... just with a switch. I always feel that those are the best actors, who can manage to do that."

"No, but I feel all actors have that switch. It's also a form of self-preservation, I feel, to kind of preserve that talent, preserve that energy. If we are constantly thinking about the shot, it makes you really weary and tired. So you need to have that switch-on, switch-off," Kareena concluded.
