Yami Gautam Dhar's 'Nayyi Navelli' Locks October Release

Fantasy comedy starring Yami Gautam Dhar brings a twist to Dussehra as a mysterious bride turns a chaotic Meerut home into paradise

Yami Gautam Dhar is coming to cinemas this Dusshera with her latest Nayyi Navelli. Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow on Wednesday announced that the film, billed as a fantasy family entertainer, will release globally on October 16.

Produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, Nayyi Navelli is directed by Balaji Mohan and follows a bride, "who transforms a chaotic Meerut household into paradise, only for her brother-in-law to suspect that his seemingly ideal sister-in-law may actually be a witch."

The film is written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, with music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of SVOD Originals, Prime Video India and Amazon MGM Studios stated that Nayyi Navelli is a perfect Dussehra film.

Producer Aanand L Rai added, “Nayyi Navelli is the kind of story that surprises you at every turn. When Himanshu and I first discussed the story, we were immediately drawn to the unique way it brings together families for a fantasy, humour and adventure-filled experience. Yami Gautam Dhar was an instinctive choice, bringing exactly the warmth and mischief the character demands."

Nayyi Navelli marks the Hindi directorial debut of Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan, known for films like Maari, Maari 2 and the Tamil web-show As I'm Suffering From Kadhal.

Dhar had experimented with horror-comedy in Bhoot Police (2021), which also featured Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. She was last seen on the big screen in the courtroom drama Haq.
