On August 24, the makers of Zombie Reddy 2 revealed its new title to be Zombie Reddy 2 NXT LVL, giving a glimpse into the zombie entertainer through a title announcement video that promises a more ambitious zombie experience.
Actor Teja Sajja, who most recently led two sensational blockbusters: HanuMan and Mirai, is set to return as the lead in the second instalment of this franchise directed by Suparn S Varma.
The announcement also coincides with the actor's birthday, with the video opening with a statement clarifying that no artificial intelligence has been used in the making of the film. Alongside Teja Sajja, the film also casts Upendra and Shanaya Kapoor in pivotal roles.
The video unfolds in reverse, creating a gripping narrative. It opens with a zombie falling in slow motion from a flyover onto a truck, with a traffic sign falling besides him that reads: “Zombies are back.” As the video plays backwards, we discover that the zombie had actually been thrown from a car driven by the protagonist while being attacked by a group of other undead creatures. The sequence then moves to Charminar, where the protagonist is seen standing on a car with a bat in hand, fighting off a massive swarm of zombies.
Towards the end of the video, we see Teja Sajja say: “This time, next level,” before the title Zombie Reddy 2 NXL LVL is revealed. Designed like a joystick with a zombie hand, the logo of the film's title itself gives it a video-game feel. The glimpse also suggest that the film will be a more chaotic, thrilling and youthful take on the zombie film genre.
In the glimpse we get of Teja Sajja, we can see him take on a younger-looking avatar, wearing rectangular, thick-framed black spectacles that give him a comical look. The film is said to be mounted on a massive scale, bloodier and packed with high-action sequences.
Written by Hussain Dalal, Abbas Dalal, Prasanth Varma and Suparn S Varma, the film is also supported by an experienced technical crew, with Abhinandan Ramanujam as the cinematographer, Banglam as the production designer and Vijay Velukutty as the editor.
The film's music has been scored by Gowra Hari who previously collaborated with Teja Sajja on HanuMan and Mirai. The composer is set to bring a fusion of Telangana folk tune with contemporary rock elements and zombie-themed sounds to add to the film's animated and energetic narrative.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory, Zombie Reddy 2 NXT LVL is slated for a 2027 release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Nepali and Japanese.
