Alia Bhatt’s second appearance at The Met Gala in New York City was one for the books — clad in a custom, mint-green Sabyasachi saree with a 23-foot-long train, her look featured semi-precious stones and hand-embroidered florals. In accordance with the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, Bhatt’s saree was a nod to the garden from J.G. Ballard’s The Garden of Time. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, it took 163 artisans 1,965 hours to make.

The grand finale of The Lakmé Fashion Week, in partnership with FDCI, witnessed a bittersweet moment in fashion history earlier this year, hosting designer Rohit Bal’s final showcase. The collection, titled ‘Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe’, was an ode to the “bloom of life and beauty,” as said the late designer in a statement post the show. Ananya Panday turned showstopper in a black lehenga featuring animal motifs and the designers’ trademark red florals. Paired with a cape and chunky gold jewellery, it was a quintessential Rohit Bal look.

The closing night of the Red Sea International Film Festival saw Priyanka Chopra Jonas in silver Oscar de la Renta couture from their Spring 2025 collection. Featuring a large rose motif, the body-con floor-length gown made for one of the defining looks of 2024. Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray with Bvlgari jewels and natural make-up, the actor also won the Red Sea Honorary Award presented by Sarah Jessica Parker later that night.

A Gen-Z masterclass in menswear, Ishaan Khatter has established himself as a trend-setter in 2024. Ahead of his appearance in Netflix drama series The Perfect Couple (2024), he joined hands with stylist Alexander Roth to showcase some of his coolest looks yet. Besides the denim-on-denim and head-to-toe Burberry outfits, his look for the premiere night certainly stole the spotlight. The actor opted for a boned corset underneath a blazer — a classic Daniel W. Fletcher look — and paired it with an Omega watch and a single earring, showing how it’s done.

The film and fashion icon celebrated 25 years in films wearing a custom, vintage Banarasi drape saree by designer Amit Aggarwal. In an effort to preserve and revive heritage fabric, he sourced the saree from “a cherished couple within the Rabari community” and transformed it into one of his signature structured drapes, as mentioned in an interview. While it took nearly 200 hours to make, the integrity of the natural fabric was maintained as it wasn’t cut in any manner. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Khan paired it with black gloves and jewels by Roma Narsingani.
