Dabba Cartel Web Series Review | Suchin Mehrotra | THR India
In "Dabba Cartel," creators Shibani Akar, Vishnu Menon, and Asha present a narrative that intertwines the rise of an all-women drug cartel in Mumbai's Matunga with the investigation into an illicit pharmaceutical company's operations. The series boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Shabana Azmi as Kashi, the retired crime boss eager to reclaim her influence; Shrishti Pandey as Razi, a housewife thrust into the criminal underworld; Nisha Sain as Mala, the foul-mouthed house help seeking a better life; and Anjali Anand as Shahida, the crooked broker instrumental in assembling the group.
While the premise holds promise, the series attempts to balance multiple narrative threads, leading to a diluted impact. The pacing often sacrifices character development, leaving the ensemble cast underutilized. Despite these shortcomings, "Dabba Cartel" offers moments of intrigue and showcases the potential of its leading actors.
