Anupama Chopra reviews Vibe, written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, who also co-produces and stars in the Hindi spy comedy alongside Sparsh Shrivastava. The film follows childhood friends Hardik and Bugs as a series of misadventures pulls them into an intelligence operation. Anupama traces the film's comic DNA through Go Goa Gone and Madgaon Express: male friendships, unlikely predicaments and chaos.

While Vibe never quite matches the comic highs of Madgaon Express, she finds Kunal and Sparsh's chemistry its strongest asset, particularly a sequence in which Bugs tries to control Hardik's speech through strategically delivered shocks. Anupama also appreciates the film's playful subversion of the invincible, hypermasculine spy and the space it gives its women, with Preity Zinta as Madame H, a cameo by Sharmila Tagore and Vanshika Dhir as Hardik's love interest. The fun dips sharply in the second half, however, as an underwritten villain, a tangled plot and conventional action threaten to overwhelm the comedy. The THR Bottomline: an uneven but mostly entertaining adventure that delivers a solid dose of laughs and leaves Anupama looking forward to Hardik and Bugs's next outing. Vibe is now in theatres.
