'Awarapan 2' Teaser: Emraan Hashmi Returns As Shivam Pandit After 19 Years

The creators of 'Awarapan 2' have released its much-anticipated teaser, promising the return of the poignant cinematic experience fans have been waiting for

Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam Pandit in 'Awarapan 2,' a sequel picking up 19 years after Mohit Suri’s 2007 cult hit. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the intense action drama revisits Shivam’s grief, rage and search for redemption, with a gripping trailer, powerful dialogues and a reimagined Toh Phir Aao 2.0 ahead of its 14 August 2026 release.

When Mohit Suri released Awarapan back in 2007, the audience fell in love with Emraan Hashmi's portrayal of a gangster's journey toward redemption. Now, after 19 years, the creators of Awarapan 2 have finally released its teaser.

The story, the plot and the world Suri built had such a powerful and emotional hold on its audience, that is has never quite faded. This time, the audience gets the chance to revisit this soul-stirring story and the thrill of its dynamics all over again.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film marks the return of Hashmi as Shivam Pandit and also stars Shabana Azmi as Nafisa, Salil Acharya as Ronnie, and Disha Patani Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kholi and Atul Kumarin in prominent roles.

Awarapan 2 engulfs fans into the thrilling journey of Shivam Pandit. Narrated in Hashmi's voice, it follows a man struggling to stay afloat amid grief and loss, searching for a purpose to hold on to. The teaser opens with Shivam revisiting the grave of Aaliyah, his lost love, played by Shriya Saran in the first film.

We then cut to a series of edgy and atmospheric visuals. Whether it be Shivam standing at the top of a building or fists colliding in brutal street fights, the trailer gives fans an insight into the raw, newfound rage that Hashmi embodies.

The teaser also reimagines a classic, Toh Phir Aao, composed by Mithoon and with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, offering a heartfelt flashback to of one of the franchise's most remembered and timeless songs.

The teaser ends with a gripping line: "Is baar yeh awarapaan khatam hoga, yaa main," leaving the audience longing for Hashmi's return as Shivam.

Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, and written by Bilal Siddiqui, the makers have called Awarapan 2 an "intense action drama", which would pick up from where Shivam’s story left off. The film is set to release in cinemas worldwide on 14 August 2026.
