'Dada': Sourav Ganguly Unveils First Look of His Biopic Starring Rajkummar Rao

Sourav Ganguly has unveiled the first look of his biopic Dada, starring Rajkummar Rao, timed with his birthday. Directed by Vikram Aditya Motwane and produced by Luv Films, the movie traces Ganguly’s rise from a young cricketer to a transformative India captain. The poster recreates his iconic shirtless Lord’s celebration, with release set for May 14, 2027.

Indian cricketing legend Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday shared the first look of his much-awaited biopic, Dada, with the makers timing the reveal to coincide with the cricketer's birthday. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film is headlined by Rajkummar Rao.

Sharing the post, Ganguly wrote: "The Best Gift Ever! Can't wait to see you play my cover drive!" The poster highlights Rao recreating Ganguly's iconic shirtless celebration at the Lord's balcony after India's victory over England in the 2002 NatWest Series final.

Produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under banner of Luv Films, Dada will document Ganguly's journey with the Indian cricket team. From his humble beginnings as a young cricketer to one of team India’s most successful captains, the film is set to focus on his career, challenges and his monumental role in shaping the Indian cricket team which inspired a new generation of players.

The film features Tanya Maniktala as Dona Ganguly, the cricketer's wife, Aparajita Adhya as his mother, Nirupa Ganguly, and Saswata Chatterjee will play his father, Chandi Ganguly. Rahul Dev Bose will portray Ganguly’s brother, Snehasish Ganguly.

Upon seeing the poster, Ganguly expressed that he felt as though he had been transported to one of his career defining moments, adding that he is confidence Rao’s will do justice to his journey.

Rao was recently seen filming the upcoming biopic at Kolkata’s Maidan. Dada is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on May 14, 2027.
