Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon has sought an additional 30 days to release his long-delayed film Dhruva Natchathiram, despite a Madras High Court order permitting its release on or before June 15, 2026. Citing his inability to meet the deadline despite his best efforts, he has requested time till July 15, 2026, as legal appeals and creditor challenges continue.

Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon has reportedly sought 30 more days to release his long-delayed film, Dhruva Natchathiram. The Madras High Court had earlier cleared the decks for the film’s release “on or before the 15th of June." But the filmmaker, in his recent plea to the High Court, sought an extension as he wasn't in a position to release it before June 15, 2026, “despite best efforts”, according to The Hindu.

The application seeking extension of time till July 15, 2026 is expected to be heard by Justice K. Kumaresh Babu on Monday, June 15, 2026, according to the publication. "On the same day, a Division Bench of Justices P. Velmurugan and K. Govindarajan Thilakavadi would be pronouncing orders on related appeals too," the report read.

While the Madras High Court, in an order in April, cleared the decks for the film's release, in yet another hurdle, creditors of the film’s director/producer Gautham Vasudev Menon, in May, approached the High Court challenging the April 30th order, also filing an appeal against the earlier verdict.

Ondraga Entertainment, Menon's production house, had earlier expressed its gratitude to the court for passing the order in April. "Taking into consideration the substantial investment involved in the production of our film "Dhruva Natchathiram", as well as the livelihoods and the career of numerous individuals associated with the film, including artists, technicians, cast and crew, the Hon'ble High Court of Madras with Hon'ble Justice Mr.Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy presiding has directed that the film be released subject to certain safeguards to ensure that the interest of all stakeholders connected with the production of our film Dhruva Natchathiram are adequately protected," the note read.

The note added, "We are grateful to The hon'ble Justice who spent considerable time spread over a week bringing all stake holders to the table, evolving a consensus among them and then passing the order to release the film. The film with music by Harris Jayaraj and starring Chiyaan Vikram is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon with an estimated budget of Rs.80 Crores."

The release of the film, co-starring Aishwarya Rajesh, has been stuck in a limbo for the past few years.
