In another hurdle for the release of the long-delayed action thriller Dhruva Natchithram starring Vikram, creditors of the film’s director/producer Gautham Vasudev Menon have approached the High Court challenging the April 30th order, also filing an appeal against the earlier verdict. According to reports, the next hearing of the case will be on June 2, after which a call will be taken on the future release date of the film. This earlier verdict had cleared the decks for the film’s release “on or before the 15th of June."
When the earlier verdict was announced, Menon responded to the decision on X. "Some men tried to destroy my career and stop my film from releasing, a film that's also the work of more than a hundred people. Another man, my legal counsel, Senior Advocate Abdul Hameed, assured me there's a way ahead and walked me towards it. And now a very important man, Hon'ble Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, has paved the way for me, and finally there's light at the end of the tunnel. A landmark order passed to release Dhruva Natchathiram will serve as a benchmark to any film that's stuck in an industry that rarely works with organised and structured funds."
Ondraga Entertainment, Menon's production house, wrote about it on X, expressing its gratitude to the court for passing the order. "Taking into consideration the substantial investment involved in the production of our film "Dhruva Natchathiram", as well as the livelihoods and the career of numerous individuals associated with the film, including artists, technicians, cast and crew, the Hon'ble High Court of Madras with Hon'ble Justice Mr.Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy presiding has directed that the film be released subject to certain safeguards to ensure that the interest of all stakeholders connected with the production of our film Dhruva Natchathiram are adequately protected," the note read.
The release of the film, co-starring Aishwarya Rajesh, has been stuck in a limbo for the past few years.
