Hombale Films is entering overseas distribution with Ram Charan’s Telugu sports drama Peddi, aligning with its vision of taking rooted Indian stories to global audiences. Co-founder Chaluve Gowda talks to us about why the film was perfect to begin this journey.
Hombale Films will begin its overseas distribution journey with Ram Charan's upcoming Telugu sports drama Peddi, underscoring the production house's ethos. In an exclusive interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Chaluve Gowda, co-founder and partner at Hombale Films, tells us why Ram Charan's anticipated Telugu drama was apt to begin their overseas venture.
“From our soil to the global stage, that vision has always driven us at Hombale Films," says Gowda, adding that this has always been the dream for the banner. "Peddi felt like the perfect film to begin this journey because it combines rooted storytelling, scale and powerful cinematic emotion that can connect with audiences across the world.”
The popular production giant behind landmark films such as Yash's KGF films, Rishab Shetty's Kantara films, Prabhas's Salaar, and Ashwin Kumar's animation Mahavatar Narasimha, recently announced its official entry into overseas distribution. Founder of Hombale Films, Vijay Kiragandur, told The Hollywood Reporter India in an earlier exclusive chat that the move is a natural extension of the production company's ethos.
"As the maker of some of the biggest franchises, we have witnessed how powerful Indian stories can transcend language and geography. Stepping into overseas distribution is a natural extension of that journey to personally carry our cinema to global audiences and strengthen the bridge between India and the world," Kiragandur told THR India about the move.
"This is not just expansion; it is responsibility, vision, and belief in the universality of our storytelling."
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar and Divyendu Sharma in supporting roles, and has music by A. R. Rahman. Early footage and posters showed the character playing cricket in a rural setting, while the latest reveal introduces wrestling as a major element of the story. The film will be out in theatres on June 4, following a rescheduling in its earlier announced release window.
