Hombale Films will venture into overseas distribution for the first time with Ram Charan's upcoming Telugu film Peddi. The makers announced the news on social media.
"Stories rooted in our soil. Emotions meant for the world. With #PEDDI, we at @HombaleFilms proudly begin our journey into Overseas Distribution, taking Indian stories beyond borders and closer to audiences across the globe," the post read.
The popular production giant behind landmark films such as Yash's KGF films, Rishab Shetty's Kantara films, Prabhas's Salaar, and Ashwin Kumar's animation Mahavatar Narasimha, recently announced its official entry into overseas distribution. Founder of Hombale Films, Vijay Kiragandur, told The Hollywood Reporter India in an earlier exclusive chat that the move is a natural extension of the production company's ethos.
"As the maker of some of the biggest franchises, we have witnessed how powerful Indian stories can transcend language and geography. Stepping into overseas distribution is a natural extension of that journey to personally carry our cinema to global audiences and strengthen the bridge between India and the world," Kiragandur tells THR India about the move.
"This is not just expansion; it is responsibility, vision, and belief in the universality of our storytelling."
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports drama centres on the titular character Peddi and appears to chart his journey across different arenas of competition. Early footage and posters showed the character playing cricket in a rural setting, while the latest reveal introduces wrestling as a major element of the story.
Latest visuals from the film shows Charan in the role of a wrestler, marking a shift in the film’s narrative after earlier promotional material presented him as a village cricketer. The image forms part of a series of content releases from the production that have gradually revealed different facets of the film’s setting and central character.
The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar and Divyendu Sharma in supporting roles. Music for the film is composed by A. R. Rahman. The film will be released on June 4.
