Saiee M Manjrekar unveils a striking new avatar in the period drama 'The India House,' set against pre-independence India. Backed by Ram Charan’s V Mega Pictures, the film explores a forgotten chapter of India's freedom struggle, showcasing Manjrekar in a bold, revolutionary role that promises to redefine her career trajectory.
Saiee M Manjrekar is stepping into the eye of a pre-independence storm. The first-look of the actor from the upcoming period feature The India House, currently filming in Estonia, has surfaced.
The look shows her in a grounded, high-stakes avatar set against pre-independence India. The ambitious project is backed by Ram Charan’s V Mega Pictures alongside Abhishek Agarwal Arts and sees Manjrekar pivot significantly from her past outings.
The image showcases Manjrekar in a period attire—a crisp white full-sleeved blouse paired with a floor-length maroon skirt, dark stockings, and vintage footwear—holding a blazing torch aloft against the backdrop of what appears to be a revolutionary demonstration.
Set in London during the pre-independence era, The India House is inspired by a forgotten chapter in the country's history and "explores significant events linked to India’s freedom struggle."
A source close to the production shared, "Saiee’s character in The India House is quite different from what audiences have seen her do before. Her look is rooted in the period, and the image captures the spirit of a character who appears to stand for something bigger than herself. There is a certain intensity to her role, and audiences will get to see a new side of her as an actor."
Manjrekar made her debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3 before taking on mainstream roles in Neeraj Pandey's Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, the biographical drama Major, and Telugu tentpoles like Skanda and Ghani.
The India House is directed by Ram Vamsi Krishna and co-stars Nikhil Siddharth and Anupam Kher.
