Netflix’s upcoming legal drama Ikka, premiering July 10, stars Sunny Deol as principled lawyer Arjun Mehra and Akshaye Khanna as Shauryamann Gaur, an accused in a high-profile attempted murder case. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, the film explores how one case upends Mehra’s convictions, family life and relationships, blending courtroom tension with an intimate story of love, loyalty and moral conflict.

Netflix India has released the trailer for Ikka, a courtroom drama starring Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, confirming the film will premiere on the platform on July 10. The film, directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, also stars Tillotama Shome and Dia Mirza.

The trailer follows Arjun Mehra, played by Deol, a lawyer known for fighting cases on principle rather than for the win. He is drawn into defending Shauryamann Gaur, played by Khanna, who is caught in a high-profile attempted murder case. The trailer says this is the case that puts Mehra's convictions, relationships and the life he has built to the test.

Shome plays Madhura Banerjee, a public prosecutor opposing Mehra in court, while Mirza plays Avantika, Mehra's wife, who has to manage the fallout of the case within their family. The cast also includes Sanjeeda Shaikh, Shishir Sharma and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor.

Ikka marks Deol's first project made directly for a streaming platform and his first on-screen collaboration with Khanna many years after Border (1997). The film is produced by Alchemy Films, with Siddharth P. Malhotra and Sapna Malhotra credited as producers, and written by Althea Kaushal and Mayank Tewari.

Speaking about the film, Sunny Deol said, “Ikka is not just a courtroom drama. It is a story about family, relationships, and the difficult choices life forces you to make. Arjun is a man who believes in doing what is right, but circumstances push him to question everything around him. His pain, his anger, his silence, and his fight for what he believes in are what drew me to this character.”

Dia Mirza spoke about her character and the emotional underpinnings of Ikka.

"Avantika is someone who brings warmth, strength, and stability to those around her, even when life becomes increasingly uncertain," Mirza said. "I was drawn to her resilience and the quiet courage with which she navigates the challenges that come her way. What makes Ikka special is that beneath the courtroom drama lies a deeply human story about family, love and difficult choices. I'm delighted to be back on Netflix with a story that is both emotionally rich and deeply engaging, and I look forward to audiences experiencing it.”

The film, made directly for streaming, releases on Netflix on July 10.
