Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 shatters records with a ₹424 crore global opening weekend, cementing his legacy at 75. The film grossed ₹234.25 crore domestically and ₹190 crore overseas, achieving the #2 spot worldwide. With its explosive performance, Jailer 2 is on track to challenge the all-time highest-grossing Tamil film record held by 2.0.

Age, as they say, is merely a construct for Thalaivar. Proving once again that his cinematic legacy remains absolute, 75-year-old superstar Rajinikanth has rewritten box office history. Filmmaker Nelson’s explosive action sequel Jailer 2 has taken the global box office by storm, racing past a staggering ₹424 crore worldwide in its first four days.

Released on October 15, the film grossed an astounding ₹234.25 crore domestically alongside an overseas haul of ₹190 crore. In terms of India net, Jailer 2 racked up ₹199 crore across nearly 60,000 shows, reported trade tracker Sacnilk. Out of its first 4 days of theatrical run, the film struck a century—crossing the coveted ₹100 crore milestone globally—across 3 days.

According to global tracking metrics, the film secured the number two spot worldwide for the weekend, pulling in a fierce $31.2 million 3-day weekend that ballooned into a $44.5 million 4-day global opening across more than 20 markets.

In India, Jailer 2 registered an opening day of ₹59 crore, followed by ₹37 crore on day two. On Saturday and Sunday, the film registered a huge surge, netting ₹47 crore and ₹55 crore, respectively.

For Rajinikanth, this box-office juggernaut proves his unmatched legacy. While the original Jailer (2023) rewrote industry records, Jailer 2 is aggressively chasing the all-time highest-grossing Tamil film worldwide crown—a record currently held by S. Shankar's sci-fi epic 2.0 (2018), which also starred Rajinikanth alongside Akshay Kumar.

According to Sacnilk, 2.0, had grossed an estimated ₹691 crore worldwide, followed by blockbusters like Leo at approximately ₹605.90 crore globally and Jailer at around ₹604 crore. Jailer 2 is likely to chase down the big record and script history.

Directed by Nelson, Jailer 2 sees the return of Rajinikanth's 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa Menon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Jackie Shroff.
