The trailer for Jailer 2 showcases Rajinikanth's return as Muthuvel Pandian, now a mysterious car driver with a hidden past. Packed with intense action, new characters, and gripping dialogues, the sequel promises a thrilling continuation of the blockbuster story. The film, releasing on October 15, strategically coincides with the Dussehra holidays for a grand opening.

Sun Pictures has released the much-awaited trailer of Nelson's Rajinikanth-led Jailer 2. The makers of the film have shared the film's trailer ten days before the film's release.

The bloodied, action-packed trailer opens with Suraj Venjaramoodu's Dileep, likely the sequel's primary antagonist, questioning a captive whether he knows anything about the "man they are looking for".

This is followed by superstar Rajinikanth's slow motion entrance, as the background score fades in with the voiceover titling him "Tiger - Muthuvel Pandian". Right after, Pandian is seen shooting someone, firing a flurry of bullets.

Jailer 2 sees the return of Rajinikanth's 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, though now as a silent, kept-to-himself car driver. A voiceover follows, revealing that "he didn't go into hiding after killing Varman."

The film's new additions also make an appearance, with SJ Suryah's recently introduced Bodhi Kalpak speaking directly to the camera, saying "Can only the Jailer set up snipers? Why wouldn't I?" Suryah's Kalpak is later seeing speaking angrily to someone on the phone, adding "More than you killing him, we should see him suffer and bleed to death!"

Vidya Balan's Kantha appears in the trailer, blowing cigarette smoke in Pandian's face as she offers him a drink of tea or coffee. As Pandian rejects the offer, Kantha says, "You can only choose between tea or coffee. You can't choose whether you're willing to drink it or not."

Nora Fatehi, who has recently been announced as part of the sequel, was not seen in the trailer. Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi are also reported to have cameos in the sequel.

Mithun Chakraborty joins the trailer, entering in a wheelchair, in a gruff look with thin slicked back hair. Jackie Shroff is seen in a quick shot too, draped in lungi with an army of armed men backing him.

Cameo stars from the first film, Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal, return in the sequel, as the trailer offers quick looks into their looks in the film. Mohanlal enters the room in fine attire, with two large crucifixes hanging from his neck and donning a pair of sunglasses.

Jailer 2 has been in production for over a year and its release coincides with the Dussehra holidays, a strategic move intended to give the sequel a grand opening across both domestic and international markets.

Jailer, Rajinikanth's first collaboration with Nelson, was released in August 2023. It follows the life of a retired jailer, Muthuvel Pandian, who tries to find his missing son and ends up crossing paths with an eccentric idol smuggler, Varman. Both Jailer, and its sequel, are produced by Kalanithi Maran, and are composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The action-comedy became a blockbuster and the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023. The sequel appears to be a continuation of Pandian’s storyline.

Jailer 2 releases in theatres on October 15.
