Producer Venkat K Narayana, the man behind KVN Productions, said in a recent interview that his film with Vijay, Jana Nayagan, will be released soon. The film has been delayed since January 2026, when it was scheduled for release during Pongal. Directed by H Vinoth, the film is believed to be the last film of Vijay, who recently took oath as the newly appointed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

In an interview with India Today, Venkat K Narayana recently discussed the delayed film's release plans. “We have to follow the law of the land. We need to receive the Censor certificate to release the movie in theatres. We applied for it in December. We all know what happened after that. The revision committee has also seen the movie. We are hoping that we get the Censor certificate at the earliest and that the movie will be released soon.”

Calling it destiny, he added that the delay in the film’s release may have been a blessing, with the film hitting screens after Vijay took office as CM, allowing them to introduce the actor as the CM in the title card.

The film, directed by H Vinoth, has faced a series of obstacles since early this year, including delays in obtaining a censor certificate and an online leak before release.

Actor C. Joseph Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), made a remarkable debut in the 17th Tamil Nadu Assembly election, emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats. The outcome marks a significant shift in the State’s political landscape, long dominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

However, TVK fell short of the majority mark of 118 seats in the 234-member Assembly by 10 seats, prompting post-poll negotiations to form the government. The party’s performance was underpinned by a strong vote share of approximately 35 per cent, garnering over 1.6 crore votes across regions, communities, and religious groups. Vijay himself contested from two constituencies — Perambur and Tiruchi East — and won both seats. A week of election uncertainties later, Vijay finally took the oath as Tamil Nadu CM on May 10.
