Samantha Ruth Prabhu leads Maa Inti Bangaaram as a newly married daughter-in-law who doubles as a fierce action heroine, smashing stereotypes along with thugs in her sari. The Nandini Reddy-directed family action drama blends domestic expectations, quirky humour and raw action.
Who said a housewife in a sari can't land a few punches? The trailer of Samantha Ruth Prabhu's upcoming action entertainer, Maa Inti Bangaaram, which was released recently, features the Telugu actress as a suave action heroine.
Samantha is a newly-married daughter-in-law entering a traditional Telugu family. As she navigates her marriage and her relationship with her in-laws, who expect her to conform to her role as the daughter-in-law of the house, she unleashes a side of herself that no one sees coming. The video sees her kick thugs, thrash a man's head with a tawa, even as she finds her place in her new kitchen. "Be it a hero or a housewife, when the dialogue lands right, it can scare anyone," she says. Gulshan Devaiah makes an appearance in the trailer as a mysterious antagonist from her past life.
Maa Inti Bangaaram is a family action drama directed by Nandini Reddy, produced by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Raj Nidimoru, and Himank Duvvuru. The film features Diganth and Gulshan Devaiah in key roles alongside a supporting cast of Sree Mukhi, Gautami, Anand, Lakshmi, Srinivas Gavireddy, and Manjusha.
The film is a significant creative reunion for Samantha and Nandini Reddy, who previously struck gold with the 2019 hit Oh! Baby. Known for her emotionally intuitive storytelling and her ability to craft nuanced, strong female protagonists, Reddy appears to be pushing the envelope further with Maa Inti Bangaaram (translated as "The Gold of Our House"). The film is set against a raw, grounded backdrop, framing its protagonist as a fierce protector within a narrative that is as quirky as it is personal.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's production house, Tralala Moving Pictures, recently announced that Maa Inti Bangaaram will be released on June 19, 2026, moving from its previously announced May 15 date.
"The decision was made to avoid a clash with the IPL season, and to give audiences across the Telugu states the opportunity to fully support the Sunrisers Hyderabad during their campaign," read a press note.
