The violent, seductive landscape of Purvanchan gets the big-screen treatment in the trailer for Mirzapur: The Movie. Promising a grand cinematic elevation of the successful streaming series, the forthcoming film boasts a larger canvas, higher stakes and a new battle for power.
The movie adaptation of Mirzapur is set after the events of the first season, which released to popular acclaim in 2018. At the centre of a new film is a renewed race for the Gaddi (thrown). The trailer opens with Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), the 'King' of Mirzapur, laying out the rules of intrigue and powerplay. This is followed by a series of cinematic visuals, comprising gunshots, gaalis and tangy dialogue-baazi. The advent of a new threat from the desertlands of Rajasthan, played by Ravi Kishan, appears to shake up the complex honeycomb of Mirzapur's politics.
Mirzapur: The Movie reunites some of the franchise’s most storied characters, including Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiya, Divyendu's Munna Bhaiya, Ali Fazal's Guddu Pandit and Rasika Dugal's Beena Tripathi.
In addition to the series regulars, the film also stars Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan and Abhishek Banerjee as new entrants to the madness. Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, Sonal S. Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Shaji Chaudhary, Satendra Soni, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Sushant Singh round out the cast.
Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Divyenndu, who returns to Mirzapur after his fan-favourite character's death at the end of Season 2, shared, "It’s going to be "vintage" Mirzapur. We are coming all guns blazing. You’ll see the same characters as the first season — how they were. It’s a similar setting but in a different situation. Because it’s a film, it’s on a much bigger, cinematic canvas, and it’s truly for the fans."
Mirzapur: The Movie releases in cinemas on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu.
