Director-writer Shahi Kabir has revealed that he has narrated a core story idea to superstar Mohanlal, hinting at a possible future collaboration. Known for centring his films on police officers, Shahi is still developing the script. The revelation comes as he promotes Unmadham, releasing this Friday, while Mohanlal wraps Athimanoharam with Tharun Moorthy.
Director-writer Shahi Kabir, who is currently promoting the Kunchacko Boban film Unmadham, revealed that he had narrated a script to Mohanlal and that the superstar had liked the pitch. All of Shahi Kabir’s films have had a police officer in the lead role. Mohanlal’s films with Tharun Moorthy, which he is currently wrapping up, also feature him playing a police officer. Unmadham, written by Shahi Kabir, will be released this Friday, the 31st.
In a promotional interview with Reporter TV, he revealed that he had already narrated the core idea of a story to the actor, adding that the project is still in the writing stage. He said he had visited the star on the sets of Patriot and narrated the core idea. He also said that all his films, including Joseph, began with a core idea which he writes in its entirety after an actor gives it their go-ahead. “When I write for Lalettan, I end up rewriting it, hoping it doesn't get rejected. The story is still with me, but I haven't been able to present it to him yet. We’re still in the process," said Shahi.
Shahi Kabir’s previous release as director was Ronth, starring Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew. He had also written Officer On Duty, a blockbuster starring Kunchacko Boban. Mohanlal is said to be in the final days of his film Athimanoharam with Tharun Moorthy. A photo from Georgia, posted by editor Shameer Muhammed, also hinted that Mohanlal might be moving on to his film L367, to be directed by Vishnu Mohan, right after this, with the shoot expected to begin in Tbilisi, later next month. Mohanlal also has a film announced with Dileesh Pothan coming up.
