Curry Barker’s low-budget psychological horror Obsession is rewriting India’s box-office playbook, soaring from a modest ₹1.75 crore opening to a ₹7.50 crore second Sunday. With a 10-day total of ₹36.10 crore, it has already beaten The Devil Wears Prada 2 and is now chasing Michael and Project Hail Mary to potentially become 2026’s top Hollywood grosser in India.

Filmmaker Curry Barker's Obsession is doing the unthinkable at the Indian box office. The sensational psychological horror, which audiences can't seem to stop talking about, has set a gravity-defying, historic trend, with its second-weekend collections nearly equal to its entire Week 1 haul.

Led by Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston, Obsession started its theatrical run in India with a modest collection of ₹1.75 crore 10 days ago.

However, fueled by explosive word of mouth, the film recorded its biggest single-day haul on its second Sunday, registering an unbelievable ₹7.50 crore nett. To put this into perspective: Obsession's entire first weekend collection stood at ₹7.75 crore, meaning its single-day Sunday haul fell just shy of its entire opening three-day weekend total, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film ended its first week run at ₹18.55 crore nett, and then recorded a huge jump on its second Friday when it netted ₹3.30 crore. On Saturday, it recorded a massive 58% jump as the collections soared to ₹6.75 crore. Following its solid ₹7.50 crore Sunday performance, the second weekend collection for the film stands at an outstanding ₹17.55 crore, a figure that almost matches the film's first seven-day total.

The all-India total for the film after 10 days stands at a stellar ₹36.10 crore nett. With this, Obsession has already sailed past the lifetime figures of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in India, which wrapped up its domestic run at around ₹28 crore nett.

Obsession is now poised to easily cruise past the ₹50-crore mark at the domestic box office before setting its sights on overtaking Michael. The highly acclaimed Michael Jackson biopic recently concluded its solid domestic run at ₹65 crore nett.

Going by the current box office trending, if Obsession holds its ground during the weekdays and packs in a few more weekend surprises, it has a legitimate shot at becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood title of 2026 in India. That crown is currently held by Ryan Gosling's global sci-fi blockbuster Project Hail Mary, which netted around ₹75 crore in the domestic market.
