Rajkummar Rao headlines Avinash Arun’s courtroom drama Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story, offering a tense, emotionally charged look at the celebrated Indian public prosecutor. The teaser showcases Rao’s transformation as it revisits landmark criminal trials, including the 1993 Bombay blasts and 2008 Mumbai train attacks, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on August 7, 2026.

The teaser of Avinash Arun's Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story is finally out. With Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, the film offers a powerful first look into the life and career of one of India’s most prominent public prosecutors, Ujjwal Nikam.

Rao will be heading this title in the lead role as Nikam, with co-actors Wamiqa Gabi, Sikandar Kher, Tarun Sharma and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles. The filming began in October last year. The teaser offers the first look at a tense, emotionally charged courtroom saga, and Rao in a new persona.

Having headlined films like Stree, Newton and Shahid, Rao has been associated with versatile characters and impressive transformations. With his transformation into Nikam, Rao once again demonstrates his range by stepping into the role of a man at the forefront of some of the most significant legal cases of his time.

The teaser hints that the film will revisit some of the most defining and disputable criminal trials in Indian history and will explore Nikam’s role in the trail surrounding the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story is produced by Dinesh Vijan and will mark his sixth collaboration with Rao. Co-produced by Sharada Karki Jalota and Pooja Prem Patheja, with music by Pritam, the film is set to release in cinemas on August 7.
