Salman Khan and Nayanthara’s upcoming film has officially entered production in Mumbai. The as-yet untitled film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, is pegged as a large-scale action entertainer, and will be Salman's follow-up to Maatrubhumi, which is currently awaiting release.

While plot and technical details are sparse, this is the first time Salman and Nayanthara are working together on a project. The upcoming film is produced by ace Telugu producer Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Shirish and Kuldeep Rathod are serving as producers and Rafi Kazi is attached as co-producer.

Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar (2025) directed by AR murugadoss, and before that in Tiger 3 (2023). His upcoming film, Maatrubhumi, a military action drama co-starring Chitrangada Singh, has been indefinitely delayed. Inspired by real events from 2020-2021, the film underwent reshoots and a title change. According to reports, the makers are aiming for an August release for Maatrubhumi, which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.

Nayanthara, one the leading actors in Tamil cinema, made her Hindi feature film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan (2023). Her next big release is Toxic alongside Kannada superstar Yash.

Vamshi Paidipally is known for films such as Yevadu (2019) and Varisu (2023), both of which were commercially successful. The project marks several milestones as it is Paidipally’s first Hindi project and also his sixth collaboration with Dil Raju. The producer has backed several major Telugu hits and has expanded into pan-Indian productions in recent years.

While Salman works on his mainline films, his fans need not wait long to see the superstar on screen. At a recent trailer launch, actor-director Riteish Deshmukh revealed that Khan will be seen in a major role in his upcoming film, Raja Shivaji. The biopic which is based on the life of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is already among the most anticipated films in development. It also features Abhishek Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.
