Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has stormed the Indian box office, crossing ₹100 crore gross in six days and eyeing a ₹100 crore net milestone by its second weekend. English-language shows dominate with over ₹66 crore net, IMAX screenings remain sold out, and early-morning shows continue nationwide, signalling a rare sustained run for a Hollywood release in India.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey crossed ₹100 crore in India gross collections on its sixth day of release — Wednesday, July 23 — with net collection estimated to be around ₹84.15 crore. The epic action drama is on track to cross ₹100 crore net collection milestone over its second weekend, which will make it the first Hollywood film of 2026 to join the ₹100 crore net club in India.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Wednesday's net collection was ₹6.50 crore from 8,268 shows across the country — a 22.2 percent drop from its ₹8.35 crore earnings from Tuesday, though Tuesday’s boost in sales can be credited to discounted ticket offers.
In total, the film has now sold over 15.97 lakh tickets on BookMyShow since its opening, with daily sales settling at 1.03 lakh on Wednesday after peaking at 3.5 lakh on the opening Saturday.
The English version of the film remains the dominant format, contributing ₹66.55 crore to the overall India net, with Wednesday’s numbers weighing 13.67 percent overall and 17.44 percent in the night shows.
Chennai led regional occupancy for the English version at 28 percent, followed by Hyderabad at 15.5 percent and Bengaluru at 12.5 percent.
The Hindi version has collected ₹10.25 crore to date. The Tamil version recorded 23.28 percent occupancy on Wednesday — with Trichy at a high of 26 percent and Madurai at close to 22 percent. The Telugu version recorded 16.03 percent occupancy on Wednesday , and Hyderabad at 19.5 percent.
The IMAX run has been among the most discussed aspects of the film's release, and one that fans worldwide have looked forward to. The Odyssey recorded the second-biggest opening of all time for an IMAX release globally, and demand for screenings of the 70mm prints has pushed theatres to schedule 2 AM and 7 AM shows mid-week to manage the load. Most premium large-format locations are already sold out through August.
At IMAX Melbourne — home to the world's largest screen — the film has surpassed Oppenheimer to become the highest-grossing title in the theatre's history, which it achieved within under a week.
Globally, The Odyssey has reportedly crossed ₹3,300 crore gross, making it the biggest opening weekend of Nolan's career — surpassing the record previously held by The Dark Knight Rises. This also became the third-largest R-rated global opening in history, behind only the Deadpool franchise.
In North America, Tuesday's gross was $21.4 million, bringing its total to $163.6 million. The film has now overtaken numerous major films to become the third highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2026 in India, right behind Project Hail Mary.
With IMAX screens still committed to the film with multiple shows and weekday shows holding steadier than most Hollywood releases typically do at this stage, the trajectory points to an extended theatrical run.
