Yash’s gangster epic Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups saw a sharp correction on day two after its massive ₹101 crore opening, netting only ₹37 crore across languages in India. Despite a 60 percent drop and mixed-to-negative word of mouth, the film’s domestic gross has reached ₹165.85 crore and global collections stand at ₹190 crore, with the ₹200 crore mark expected on day three.
The euphoria has settled in. Yash's latest gangster epic Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups had a sobered-down on day two after a gigantic opening on Wednesday, with collections coming down across the board. The Geetu Mohandas directorial opened to mixed-to-negative word of mouth, which severely affected its box office performance on Thursday.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Toxic: A Fairy-Tale for Grown-Ups netted ₹37 crore on day two, which was a huge drop from its opening day net of ₹101 crore, including all languages in India.
The two-day net collections of the film domestically stand at an estimated ₹138.75 crore (gross ₹165.85 crore). The total global gross of the film so far is an estimated ₹190 crore.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria, will cross the ₹200 crore worldwide mark on day three and will aim to register an extended five-day weekend of over ₹275 crore
The film is performing strongly in the Hindi market, where it is expected to touch the ₹100 crore net mark by day three. According to Sacnilk, while the overall occupancy in metro cities stayed around the 18 to 19 percent mark, the film showed jump during the night shows, where the occupanjcy significantly increased to 41 percent.
On the opening day, the Hindi version alone clocked in an estimated ₹55 crore, recording the highest opening day ever for an original South film in the Hindi market.
The opening day figures were better than some of the Bollywood tentpole films in Hindi, Ranbir Kapoor-led Animal, Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, which had minted a similar figure in 2023.
With a global opening of over ₹100 crore, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups emerged as the second Kannada film in history to cross the milestone after K.G.F: Chapter 2, which was also headlined by Yash.
