Ayushmann Khurrana, last seen as a vampire in Thamma, will share screen space with Sara Ali Khan in the upcoming spy comedy Udta Teer.
The film marks the directorial debut of Akash A. Kaushik, who has recently worked as a writer on Bhooth Bangla. He has also been associated with comedy films such as Thank God, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Ajay Devgn, and the franchise ensemble Housefull 4.
Udta Teer also marks the fourth collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, following projects like The Lunchbox, Kill, and Gyaarah Gyaarah. Their first collaboration, The Lunchbox, starring Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur, received widespread international acclaim and was screened at prestigious film festivals.
Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan will also be seen sharing screen in the upcoming film Pati, Patni aur Woh Do, set to release in May 2026. The first film of the franchise, starring Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar, released in 2019 and was a modernisation of the 1978 film of the same name.
Dharma Productions' last offering was the Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, as well as Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Dhadak 2, and Homebound.
Udta Teer is described as a spy comedy, a genre that has been less frequently explored in mainstream Hindi cinema compared to action-driven spy films.
The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain, and is scheduled to release in theatres on September 11, 2026, around the Ganesh Chaturthi period. Further details regarding the film currently are awaited.
