The sequel is coming. Makers of the upcoming romantic comedy 

on Saturday announced that they have locked the release date of the film, which stars 

, Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh.

The film is directed by Mudassar Aziz, who had also helmed the 2019 

which itself was a remake of the 1978 BR Chopra helmed comedy led by Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, and Ranjeeta Kaur.

will be re-released on February 13 to mark Valentine's Day. The 2002 film, directed by Ameer, marked the starring debut of Trisha. Ahead of the re-release, Suriya recreated an iconic dialogue from the film in a video message for fans on social media. 

"I've seen these dialogues be recreated in several reels, WhatsApp status and shorts. A lot of people still call this 20-year-old film their favourite. This was director Ameer's first film, and I'd call it one of my best ones. We had Trisha, Laila, and Neha as the heroines, but it was a love story with not even a single hug. Yuvan Shankar Raja's album is one of my favourites. A whole generation might not have seen this film, so when we release it after 23 years, I'm looking forward to seeing you all. I want to watch at least one show with you all. I'm sure it will be a nice, sweet watch. See you soon in theatres," Suriya said in the video. 

, theatres will also welcome the re-release of Madhavan and Reema Sen's hit romance 

 (2001). Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film also co-starred Abbas and was remade in Hindi with Dia Mirza as the popular 

 (2001). The Tamil film also marked its 25th anniversary earlier this month, also marking Menon's 25th year in cinema. 

It is being shot by GK Vishnu, who was the cinematographer behind films such as 

 is written by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film features actors Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam and Supreeth Reddy.

'Mounam Pesiyadhey' To Be Re-Released On February 13; Suriya Recreates Dialogue From The film

 and Aamir Khan is finally gearing up for a theatrical outing. Period drama 

headlined by Deol, has locked August 13 as its release date, landing squarely in the Independence Day weekend, a strategic window given the film’s Partition-era backdrop.

Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, who has previously helmed blockbusters with Deol with films like 

(1996). The film also marks Santoshi's reunion with Khan after their cult comedy 

features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Preity G. Zinta, Abhimanyu Singh, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal. The film's music is by AR Rahman with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The technical team is equally formidable with Santosh Sivan ( cinematography) and Resul Pookutty (sound design) on board.

The film went on floors in 2024, with its timeline seeing multiple scheduling recalibrations before finally settling on a 2026 release. 

was initially targeting a January 26, 2025 release but was pushed due to post=production work.

 arrives amid a renewed career high. His 2023 blockbuster 

crossed the ₹500 crore mark and stamped his historic comeback. He followed it up with the actioner

Before Karan Johar became a household name, he was a young assistant director finding his footing on Hindi film sets—learning the ins and outs of cinema, constantly problem-solving. It’s those formative years that have made him the filmmaker he is today. In conversation with 

, Johar shares an anecdote from the sets of 

, where a last-minute costume crisis during the filming of 

 led him straight into the wrath of the legendary choreographer, Saroj Khan.

The crisis began with a demand for scarves for background dancers, at the eleventh hour. “Red cloth... they wanted that. This was a demand given at the last minute,” he explains. “Now, we only had so much cloth that I found,” he adds. With more dancers than fabric, Johar attempted what he describes as a “clever” fix. “I, to save the situation, went to Jojo, Saroj ji’s assistant, and very cleverly said, you know, Jojo, I think 

unko bolo, apna ek haath pocket mein rakho

 (tell them to keep one hand in their pockets), stylish 

 (it will look cool, it will look stylish). Because I didn’t have any more cloth,” he laughs.

For a brief moment, his “solution’ worked—until Khan arrived.

The choreographer was quick to notice that something was amiss. Once she clued into who was responsible, she reprimanded Johar in front of everyone on-set. “She literally pushed me,” he recalls, in equal parts fear and admiration. “She said, 

‘Tu jahaan jaana chaahe, ja, Goregaon ja, laal kapda la, warna main shoot nahi karungi 

(go wherever you need to go, go to Goregaon, bring the red cloth, otherwise I will not shoot)’.”

What ensued after, he says, is pure chaos. “I still remember the visual of us running on the streets of Goregaon saying, ‘

 (Red cloth! Red cloth!)’” Panic set in. “I was scared for my life,” he laughs. “I was traumatised, traumatised, you know, and she was really scary. Like, she was the best,” he continues, candidly, “She somehow did not like me. She never liked me."

Johar adds that despite being new to sets, he was prone to giving his two cents on costume design, even in the presence of veterans on-set, much to their annoyance. However, he says, this was often a result of his love for fashion, and his pulse on trends. It is no wonder, then, that style is now such an inextricable part of his filmography. As he puts it himself: “Can you imagine, I’m a filmmaker, and I have so many costume stories?”

For Karan Johar, costume is never an afterthought. Often, it is instinct—a fully formed idea, long before the script has taken shape. To him, how a character dresses themselves is integral to who they are, and that vision has produced some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable fashion moments. In a conversation with 

, the filmmaker shares the idea behind some of his most memorable looks.

. Long before the script was finalised, Johar knew exactly how Rani would dress. “It’s just a feeling I had,” he says, tracing the character’s look to real-life journalist Poonam Saxena, who co-wrote Johar’s biography, 

. “I used to see that she was hip, and stylish, but always in a saree. She was my inspiration,” says Johar. “I thought [someone like] Rani Chatterjee would only wear sarees,” he adds. Once the film released, Rani’s wardrobe—conceptualised by Manish Malhotra—became a cultural moment, with her sarees taking the country by storm. When the film’s costumes were later auctioned, they sold out almost immediately, proof of how deeply her looks resonated with audiences.

Sometimes, Johar says, “You see the character in your head.” This was true for yet another one of his most iconic films, 

, for which his costume designer, Malhotra, travelled across the country.

“I always wanted the Raichands to look regal and rich,” Johar recalls. “The Jamawar shawls were something that was intrinsically a part of the writing as well,” he says, referring to the rich, heavy shawls worn by Amitabh Bacchan’s character, Yashvardhan Raichand. 

The idea for the Jamawar shawls, now synonymous with the character, were a crucial detail, signifying generational wealth. There were no compromises on the look; the shawls had to be authentic. So, Malhotra, the costume designer for the film, scoured the country to realise the filmmaker’s vision. “Manish went all out, he really went all over the country [for those shawls],” says Johar. With a smile, he adds: “I always imagined that Yashvardhan Raichand would look like this.”

A case filed against Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and producer 

Perumbavoor has been quashed by the Kozhikode Additional Fifth Sessions Court. A report in 

 states that the court dismissed a criminal revision petition filed by K A Devarajan, who had accused the two of cheating in connection with a proposed film titled 

Perumbavoor had taken ₹30 lakh from him in 2007 towards the making of the film, which eventually never materialised. Devarajan was also expected to direct the project. The court ruled that the petition did not hold merit and quashed the case. Although Devarajan passed away early last year, the proceedings continued until the court’s final decision. Neither Mohanlal nor 

Perumbavoor has commented publicly on the case.

Meanwhile, attention has also turned to Mohanlal’s upcoming film 

, which has reportedly been sold for a “shocking price.” Director Jeethu Joseph made the revelation on the sidelines of promotional activities for his recent release 

. He stated that Panorama Pictures, which holds the Hindi remake rights, has now acquired the Malayalam version of 

“Instead of just the remake rights, they decided to buy the entire Malayalam film outright. When they contacted us, they first spoke to 

Perumbavoor (of Aashirwad Cinemas). He later told me that Panorama had come forward with a price that was truly shocking,” Jeethu Joseph said.

Reports suggest that the acquisition ranks among the highest deals in the Malayalam film industry. The film completed shooting in Kerala on December 2. Producer M Ranjith, who backed Mohanlal’s earlier hit 

, stated at a public event that the pre-sale figures for 

 have reportedly closed at around ₹350 crore.

Mohanlal and Producer Antony Perumbavoor Get Clean Chit in 18-Year-Old Case

Actor Prakash Raj has denied reports claiming that he has exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film 

following an alleged disagreement with the director. The film, led by Prabhas, is currently in development and has been the subject of sustained online speculation in recent weeks.

Rumours circulating since Sunday suggested that Raj had been removed from the project after a conflict with Vanga, drawing parallels with the earlier departure of Deepika Padukone from the film. Raj dismissed the claims outright, calling them baseless.

Addressing the reports more directly, Raj posted a message on X criticising what he described as irresponsible online speculation. He wrote that production on his scenes had not started and accused social media users of inventing stories without verification.

“Some nonsense speculation. I’m not aware of it,” the actor said in a brief response to 

. He confirmed that he continues to be associated with the film and will be seen in a significant role alongside Prabhas, Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and other cast members. Raj also clarified that shooting for his portions has not yet begun.

 is produced by Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures in collaboration with Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. The film marks the first partnership between the two banners since the commercial success of

The project previously made headlines following Deepika Padukone’s exit before filming began. Reports at the time indicated that Padukone and the makers were unable to reach an agreement on working hours, with the actor seeking a regulated schedule after the birth of her daughter. She was subsequently replaced by Dimri.

Vanga later addressed the episode on social media, criticising what he described as attempts to discredit a younger actor, though he did not name Padukone directly.

At a public charity event in Kerala, actor Fahadh Faasil shared updates on several of his upcoming projects, including confirmation that a sequel to

Fahadh Faasil Confirms ‘Aavesham 2’, Reveals He Plays the Antagonist in ‘Patriot’

The character posters for the four lead roles in the upcoming Malayalam action comedy 

 have been unveiled, sparking online discussion around the characters and their possible impact on the film’s narrative. Along with revealing their first looks, the posters also introduce the character names they will be known by in the film.

Tovino Thomas is introduced as Sreekuttan Vellayani. In his poster, he is seen sporting a pair of glasses and singing on stage while holding a microphone. Basil Joseph, meanwhile, appears to be playing a much younger character named Sam Kutty. His look features braces, long hair, and a backpack, hinting at a distinctly youthful persona.

Riya Shibu’s character, which was revealed last week, is named Swathi R Krishna. The character name of Vineeth Sreenivasan, however, has not been disclosed yet. Only his look has been unveiled, showing him seated on a chair wearing sunglasses, with several hands waving towards him. From the imagery, it appears that he could be playing an actor or a star-like figure. The film is also being produced by Basil Joseph along with Dr Ananthu S.

Interestingly, the character looks featured in the promo video do not entirely match those revealed in the newly released posters, suggesting that the announcement video may not directly connect to the film’s plot—a strategy commonly seen in major Tamil film promotions. The promo video has crossed four million views on YouTube so far.

The film is slated for a summer release and is positioned as one of the major Malayalam multi-starrers of the season.

'Athiradi' Character Posters Unveil First Looks of Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Riya Shibu

As per multiple reports across social media, the promo shoot of the Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan movie began on the outskirts of Chennai on Saturday, the 7th of February. The shoot is reportedly being planned and executed by director Nelson, and it is taking place in what is reportedly the set of a hotel. Apart from the director Nelson, Anirudh too could feature in this promo, playing the roles of two makeup artistes, reports suggest. Titled #Thalaivar173 for now, the film is Superstar Rajinikanth’s first full-fledged film with Kamal Haasan in over 46 years. The new film is also going to be produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Film International. 

Nelson is at least the third director to have been associated with this high-profile reunion. Before him, reports had suggested that Lokesh Kanagaraj would be making the film. Nelson, who is currently completing 

with Rajinikanth, is expected to make his first film with Kamal Haasan when the project goes on floors. 

The promo shoot has long been a staple for big-budget Tamil productions. The trend is said to have become popular with Lokesh Kanagaraj's promo before the release of his Kamal Haasan film 

. Although from the same universe, the scenes that are shot for promos often do not make it into the final version of the film. The hit dialogue, “Arambikalama (let it begin)” became popular from 

's promo video. A similar video, featuring director Nelson and music director Anirudh, had been made to announce the release of 

 was looking at a release for Pongal next year. But with delays and postponements, including Nelson’s commitments, this release date looks unlikely. The reunion will also commemorate 44 years in the business for Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International. In an earlier interview, Haasan had said, “We’ve been itching to work together for a long time. Like how a biscuit was being split into two, we had then demanded that we each be given a whole biscuit each. Now we’ve found the joy again to realise that we are both happy with just that half biscuit again. So we’ll come together.”

Weeks after hit music composer Anirudh visited Ajith Kumar at one of his races, it’s now Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's turn.  The actor posted a series of photos along with the racer-superstar from the sidelines of a race. Sivakarthikeyan had visited him at Yas Circuit in Abu Dhabi. His Pongal release, 

, had just hit OTT screens last week. Sivakarthikeyan also posted the note, “Pure passion, commitment, dedication and resilience—experienced it live, felt the adrenaline rush. An inspiring day spent with an inspiring person. Always look up to you, my dear #AK sir.” 

Ajith Kumar had opened up about how his participation in racing and his popularity as a movie star would attract a new audience towards motorsport. The attendance of figures like Anirudh and Sivakarthikeyan can be seen as the sport attracting a new set of viewers by inspiring curiosity. Tamil star Silambarasan TR too had visited the circuit a few weeks ago. 

Among the clips posted on social media, we see Sivakarthikeyan speaking to Ajith Kumar as they both look at the racing car. Sivakarthikeyan was also seen sporting a jumpsuit with the Ajith Kumar Racing logo on it. In a record-setting acquisition for the South industries, Yash-fronted 

 has secured a cushy distribution deal with Sri Venkateswara Creations (SVC) in the Telugu-speaking states for the film’s theatrical release. 

Headed by veteran producer Dil Raju, SVC has acquired the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana distribution rights for ₹120 crore on an advance commission basis, making it the biggest-ever acquisition for a non-Telugu origin film in the region.

The deal was closed between SVC and the film’s producers, KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, after multiple major players competed for the AP–TG rights. Trade sources view the acquisition as a strong marker of the film’s box-office potential and Yash’s stardom following the success of KGF films. The deal cements 

s place among the biggest pan-Indian releases currently in production.

Commenting on the association, Dil Raju said, “Yash stands as a formidable titan of Indian cinema, and post 

, his market has only grown stronger across the world. The audience’s anticipation for his next after

Veteran actor Suniel Shetty has publicly addressed persistent rumours suggesting his son Ahan Shetty was responsible for the postponement of Sajid Nadiadwala’s 

, due to his allegedly exorbitant entourage costs. In a recent interview with 

, Shetty dismissed such claims, asserting that they are entirely baseless.

Setting the record straight, his father said: "Ahan has never gone overboard with his entourage. These are all rumours. This gossip was circulated as per the producer’s convenience. If the producer says that he can show a bill, then I will see.” He adds that he will defend his son against such unfounded rumours, saying, “There, the father steps in and will step in, very, very clearly. Don’t spread lies to hide your weaknesses, because it’s not fair on Ahan."

Shetty maintained that both father and son maintain strict personal accountability for expenses when working on film sets. He underscored his point by sharing an example of his own on-set policy: he personally brings his food and water from home while filming, and has instructed his staff to ensure producers are not billed for unnecessary costs. The implication, he said, is that his son’s team operates with the same discipline. “Ahan is very, very careful with his entourage. And if it’s his entourage, he will pay for it. He is aware of that,” he said.

He challenged the narrative of his son causing issues for producers by emphasising his newcomer status, saying that there is no room for him to make unreasonable demands on-set. “Ahan has just arrived, this is his time to settle into the industry, so there are no tantrums.

For Adarsh Gourav, who has nurtured a musical career alongside acting, 

 became a project where both his crafts converged. In conversation with 

, the actor and singer spoke about how his track, 

, was spontaneously selected for the film, despite being incomplete at the time. “I have been working on my EP for the last year, and writing some music on the side,” he explains, adding: “Aditya N. and I had written [

 began, he found himself in director Bejoy Nambiar’s office, where he casually played the track for the filmmaker upon request. He shares, “I just played this track, 

for [Nambiar], and his first reaction after listening to this track was, ‘Can I have this in the film?’”

The moment carried particular weight for the actor-singer, who has always tried to integrate his music into his screen work. “I have been trying to pitch myself as a singer in every project that I’m part of,” he says, laughing. “I secretly slide it in somewhere… but it’s never worked out.” 

This time, it did, much to his surprise. “I had never imagined that this is how it would eventually happen,” he admits. “Just casually playing a song—the thought didn’t even cross my head.”

Gourav saw the opportunity as a no-brainer. “There can’t be a better platform for a musician like me to put out my music,” he says, pointing to the difference in reach. “The reach that a commercial film will have over you releasing your music independently, which 10,000 people will listen to, are two completely different things.”

The response to his music has been overwhelming. “We have had over 500,000 hits on Spotify in three days, which is absolutely insane to me,” he says. Expressing his gratitude, Gourav adds: “I’ll forever be grateful to Bejoy for making this happen.”
