Actor Vedika Pinto, who won praise for her performance in the recent romantic drama series Musafir Cafe, and prior to that was seen in Anurag Kashyap's crime saga Nishaanchi, has set her next film.
Pinto is set to share screen space with actor Lakshya in filmmaker Prosit Roy’s next directorial. The as-yet-untitled project is described as a romance drama that blends a 'one-of-a-kind story with a psychological twist'.
The film will mark Prosit Roy's follow-up to the acclaimed Prime Video series Raakh, starring Ali Fazal. Roy also directed the influential horror film Pari (2018), starring Anushka Sharma, and co-directed the first season of Paatal Lok (2020).
Lakshya, meanwhile, made his screen debut in the ultraviolent action Kill (2024). He followed it up with leading turns in Chand Mera Dil and The Ba*ds of Bollywood. The upcoming film will see him step into 'a more layered and unpredictable character', read a press note.
Initially known for the 'Liggi' music video, Vedika Pinto made her big-screen debut in Operation Romeo (2018) and had a supporting turn in the action thriller Gumraah (2023).
In addition to Prosit Roy's next, the actor is set to return for the second season of Musafir Cafe, which has found popularity for its refreshing premise and performances. The first season followed Chander (Vikrant Massey), a man navigating his feelings between two women — Sudha (Pinto), a connection from his past, and Preeti (Mahima Makwana), a presence in his present— as time and life pass by.
In its review of the series, The Hollywood Reporter India wrote, "...Musafir Cafe also does something rare for an Indian story about relationships. It doesn’t take sides in the contest between the individualism of romance and the romance of individualism. It remains curious about Chander and Sudha without asking the audience to root for either of them."
