What To Watch This Week: ‘Parimala And Co,’ ‘Made in India: A Titan Story,’ ‘Peddi’

This week, Madhuri Dixit returns to the screen with ‘Maa Behen,’ and Ram Charan stars as 'Peddi' in the highly-anticipated period drama

From Madhuri Dixit’s lead role as a single mother in Maa Behen, to Pandiraaj’s much awaited dark comedy Parimala and Co, to Naseeruddin Shah and Jim Sarbh sharing the screen in Made in India: A Titan Story, this week packs a treat with a pool of much-awaited comedies, romances, dramas and thrillers to delve into.

Here’s what to watch in theaters and on OTT this week:

Malayalam

Mollywood Times

Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the film follows a young filmmaker with big dreams of becoming the greatest horror director Malayalam cinema has ever seen. He is convinced he alone can transform the industry, even as his father cautions him about the boundaries of their world. This comedy drama features Premalu star Naslen and actor Sharafudheen.

Patriot

This action-packed, star-studded spy thriller features Malayalam film greats, Mammooty and Mohanlal, as agents on a covert operation to uncover a deadly national conspiracy. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and Revathi.

Telugu

Peddi

Peddi, set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradhesh, tells the story of a villager who unites his community through sports against a powerful rival. The film is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and stars Ram Charan and Jahnvi Kapoor, with music by A. R. Rahman.

Rao Bahadur

Starring Satyadev as Rao Bahadur, this psychological drama follows the royal figure who finds himself "stuck in the past," in a story that blends suspense, dark comedy, and magical realism against the backdrop of a fading aristocracy.

Tamil

Parimala and Co.

This comedy-crime thriller is centred around a family tangled up in the aftermath of a murder, desperately trying to navigate a situation that spirals out of control, while maintaining their everyday lives. Parimala and Co. reunites Jayaram and Urvashi for the first time on-screen in nearly 20 years.

Kannada

Mango Pachcha

Set in early 2000s Mysore, Viveka’s much awaited crime-drama Mango Pachcha follows the tumultuous journey of Prashantha a.k.a Pachcha (played by Sanchith Sanjeev), a middle-class DVD store owner who is caught in the middle of the city’s criminal and political circles.

Hindi

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai

Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur star in David Dhawan’s upcoming rom-com Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. When Jass and Bani’s marriage ends over conflicts over family planning, Jass venture’s abroad, finding a new romance, but along with it shocking secrets and complex relationships.

Bandar

Anurag Kashyap’s much awaited film Bandar is all set to release on June 5, with Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, and Saba Azad as leads. Samar, played by Deol, is an ageing artist whose life unravels in unexpected ways when his former love interest, Gayatri, played by Pabbi, accuses him of rape. He is arrested and faced with a deeply brutal and flawed law enforcement system.

Brown (Series)

Starring Karisma Kapoor, Jisshu Sengupta, and Helen, Abhinay Deo’s Brown follows Rita Brown (played by Kapoor) a defamed, alcoholic ex-police officer, who, along with her junior partner, Arjun Sinha (played by Surya Sharma), must come to terms with their personal struggles while on a mission to track down a serial killer on the loose, targeting women in Kolkata.

Maa Behen

This dark comedy directed by Suresh Triveni features a dynamic and chaotic trio: Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, and Dharna Durga, along with Ravi Kishan. Rekha (played by Dixit), and her daughters Jaya and Sushma (played by Dimri and Durga), must try to cover up a crime after they find a dead body in their kitchen.

The Pyramid Scheme (Series)

Shreyansh Pandey and Ashish R. Shukla comedy-drama series, The Pyramid Scheme, follows Goldy (played by Paramvir Cheema), a driven but impatient man who gets embroiled in a pyramid marketing business, risking his future and that of his loved ones.  

Gullak 5 (Series)

Shreyansh Pandey’s comedy-drama series returns for its fifth season, following the relatable lives and tales of the middle-class Mishra family.

Made in India: A Titan Story (Series)

A story of courage, resilience, and innovation, Robbie Grewal's series brings together Naseeruddin Shah and Jim Sarbh to tell the inspiring story of the visionary Xerxes Desai (played by Sarbh), who, along with his team, created history by building India’s first-ever world class watch brand.

English

Scary Movie

Directed by Michael Tiddes, the horror-comedy Scary Movie stars Anna Faris as Cindy, and Regina Hall as Brenda—two friends who find themselves caught in a havoc involving monsters, killers, and supernatural creatures.

Masters of the Universe

Nicholas Galitzine plays the lead role in Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe. Adam (He-Man), played by Galitzine, is a young man who discovers his legacy as the prince of a planet of aliens. With Camilla Mendes and Idris Alba as other leads, the movie follows Adam and his journey of finding a magic sword to return to his kingdom.

Cape Fear (Series)

Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson star together in Morten Tyldum’s thriller reboot. The life of a happily married couple is uprooted when they are confronted by Max Cady (played by Bardem), a killer from their past, who is released from prison and craves revenge.
