Aamir Khan has officially confirmed his next big-screen venture: a large-scale superhero action film directed by Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, set to go into production in the latter half of 2026.

Speaking to a select group of journalists in Mumbai ahead of the release of Sitare Zameen Par, the 59-year-old actor opened up about his future slate. “Lokesh (Kanagaraj) and I are doing a film together. It’s a superhero film, a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further,” he said.

Aamir's action credentials includes the likes of Ghulam, Ghajini and Dhoom 3, while Kanagaraj is the director behind Tamil blockbusters Kaithi, Master and Vikram. Before their full-length collaboration, Aamir will make a cameo appearance in Coolie, the Rajinikanth-starrer helmed by Kanagaraj, marking his debut in Tamil cinema.

Aamir also addressed speculation about a possible sequel to PK, dismissing the rumours. “That’s a rumour. This is the first time I am hearing about it,” he said. However, he did confirm that a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneering figure of Indian cinema, is in the works. “The Dadasaheb Phalke biopic is happening. Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) and I are working on it.”
