Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunite for 'Haiwaan'; Priyadarshan Confirms Collaboration
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have teamed up for Priyadarshan's horror-drama 'Haiwaan'.
One of Bollywood’s OG bromances is back; this time wrapped in a horror drama. Director Priyadarshan has officially announced his next film Haiwaan, which brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan back on screen after a gap of 17 years. Their last film together was Yash Raj Films' action-drama Tashan in 2008, and fans have been eagerly waiting for the Main Khiladi Tu Anari duo to share the screen once again.
In a surprise reveal, Priyadarshan dropped a candid photo of the two actors from the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London during the third India-England Test match. Saif was seen casually watching the match in a blue shirt while Akshay, sharply dressed in a beige blazer, appeared to be chatting animatedly beside him. The caption read: "Haiwaan – my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lord’s."
Haiwaan, slated for a 2026 release, is reportedly a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal. While details remain under wraps, Kumar is expected to play the antagonist, while Khan takes on the lead role.
The announcement also marks a double comeback. Khan, who was last seen on the big screen in Devara: Part 1 alongside Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, returns to the cinemas after recovering from a stabbing incident in early 2025. He had a Netflix film, Jewel Thief, which was released in April.
Meanwhile, Haiwaan marks Kumar and Priyadarshan's third film collaboration in recent times. The duo, whose last project was Khatta Meetha in 2010, recently wrapped up the horror comedy Bhoot Bangla and are also committed to shoot Hera Pheri 3.
While Bhoot Bangla, also starring Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi, is expected to release in April 2026, there is still no update on the timelines of Hera Pheri 3, which also reunites Kumar with his co-stars Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.
