The release calendar is shifting yet again. After a series of date changes—initially set for June 5, pushed to June 12, then advanced to May 22—the David Dhawan-directed comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has finally circled back to its original slot: June 5.

The film’s scheduling volatility was largely due to the looming shadow of Yash’s massive action drama, Toxic. When Toxic vacated its March 19 opening for a June 4 global release, the Varun Dhawan-led comedy retreated to June 12 to avoid the collision.

The makers then attempted to get ahead of the competition by advancing the film to late May, even rolling out promotional assets tailored to that date. However, the strategy shifted once more when the producers of Toxic announced that their film would no longer release in June.

"The much-anticipated family entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has officially moved back to its original theatrical release date of June 5, after previously being scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 22. The film will now arrive in cinemas as the first release following the IPL season," read a note from the makers.

Headlined by Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, the film is produced by Tips Films Ltd and co-produced by Maximillian Films (UK). This project marks the latest collaboration between David and Varun Dhawan, who last teamed up for the 2020 remake of Coolie No. 1.

Yash announced the news of the postponement of Toxic, adding that the decision follows the film’s presentation at CinemaCon.

"There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide. Toxic is complete, and we are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships. In light of this, we have decided to recalibrate our release timeline. While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date," Yash wrote in a statement.
