The film, inspired by a true story and starring Kartik Aaryan as an Air Force pilot, will be shot in India and Morocco.
Kartik Aaryan has added a new project to an already thrilling roster of films. The actor, who scored a hit with last year's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is reportedly teaming with Chak De India director Shimit Amin for an aviation drama titled Captain India.
According to a report in entertainment portal Pinkvilla, the film – inspired by a true story – will be shot in India and Morocco. It is written and bankrolled by Harman Baweja.
Apparently, Aaryan and Amin have been in talks for a collaboration for a while, bouncing off ideas until they settled on Captain India.
A source told the portal, "Shimit Amin has worked out a tight screenplay for Captain India, and is all set to take it on floors with Kartik Aaryan in the first half of 2026. When the filmmaker narrated the story to Kartik, the actor too was bowled over by the script. The duo is planning to shoot for Captain India in India and Morocco. In fact, a team has already completed the recce in Morocco.” The film will feature Aaryan in the role of an Air Force Pilot, the report added. It will be shot between March and July next year, with a potential release in the first half of 2027.
Kartik Aryan has been steadily diversifying his filmography, working across a range of genres and styles. He collaborated with director Kabir Khan on the sports biopic Chandu Champion, winning praise for his performance as a Paralympic athlete. The film, however, did not succeed at the box-office.
Of his forthcoming films, the most readily exciting is Anurag Basu's next, a romantic musical co-starring Sreeleela. Aaryan will also be seen in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, another romance, and Nagzilla, a creature comedy directed by Fukrey fame Mrigdeep Singh Lamba. Both the latter films are backed by Karan Johar.
