Kannada actor Chaithra J Achar, known for her nuanced portrayals of complex women, is set to headline a new women-centric film produced by Suram Movies. The untitled project will be directed by Shakti Prasad, a fresh voice transitioning from short films to full-length features, and is expected to be a showcase for new talent both in front of and behind the camera.

Chaithra has steadily built a reputation for choosing layered roles that place women at the heart of the narrative. Her performances in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello – Side B, Taledanda, Blink and Toby have earned her a place among Kannada cinema’s most promising actors. She recently crossed over into Tamil with the drama 3BHK and has been in discussions with filmmakers across industries, signalling a growing pan-Indian presence.

Back in Karnataka, Chaithra is awaiting the release of Maarnami, even as she steps into this new project under the Suram Movies banner. The production house, which made its debut with Nidradevi Next Door, has been committed to backing content-driven cinema and providing opportunities for first-time directors and technicians.

Producer Jayaram Devasamudra says the upcoming film is a continuation of that vision, with the story centring on a strong female lead. The crew will predominantly feature debutant technicians, aligning with the banner’s goal of nurturing fresh creative voices. A teaser has already been shot, and an official announcement is expected between Dasara and Deepavali, suggesting that pre-production is well underway.
