Chitrangda Singh Joins Salman Khan in 'Battle of Galwan'
The war drama marks the first on-screen collaboration between Salman Khan and Chitrangda Singh, with director Apoorva Lakhia calling her a perfect fit for the film’s emotional core.
Chitrangda Singh has been confirmed as the female lead in Battle of Galwan, the upcoming war drama headlined by Salman Khan and directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The announcement comes days after the film’s striking poster was released, generating significant buzz around the high-stakes project based on the deadly Galwan Valley clash of 2020.
This marks the first on-screen pairing of Singh and Khan, and director Apoorva Lakhia was effusive in his praise for the actress, citing her past performances in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Bob Biswas as key reasons for casting her.
“I’ve always wanted to work with Chitrangda,” said Lakhia. “She brings a rare blend of strength and vulnerability—qualities that are essential to this role and that will beautifully balance Salman Sir’s quiet intensity.”
Salman Khan Films shared her picture on Instagram, welcoming her to the film. Singh reposted that and wrote, "Thank you so much for making me part of this .. it is truly special! I look forward to working with the whole team."
Sources close to the production revealed that the search for the film’s leading lady was extensive, with Lakhia and his team seeking someone who could embody emotional depth and quiet resilience. Singh, known for her restrained yet powerful screen presence, was eventually selected to play a character believed to be integral to the film’s emotional arc.
Battle of Galwan is based on India’s Most Fearless, the bestselling book chronicling the Galwan Valley confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces in June 2020 — one of the most severe border clashes in over four decades. Salman Khan is set to portray Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer who led his men during the encounter.
The cast also includes Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, Harshil Shah, Heera Sohall, Abhilash Chaudhary, and Vipin Bhardwaj. Production is slated to begin shortly.
Singh was last seen in Housefull 5, Meanwhile, Khan continues to make headlines with the upcoming 19th season of Bigg Boss, but for now, Battle of Galwan appears to be shaping into one of the year’s most closely watched Bollywood releases.
