David Dhawan's 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, Locks New 2026 Release Date

The film borrows its title from the chartbuster track of David Dhawan's 1999 comedy 'Biwi No.1'.

Comedy veteran David Dhawan is coming back with his new directorial Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai and the film has locked a new release date. Earlier announced for an April 2026 theatrical opening, the film starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, has now been pushed by two more months.

The makers shared an announcement poster of the comedy, which stated that Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai will now release on June 5. The film also stars Mouni Roy.

The film borrows its title from the chartbuster track of David Dhawan's 1999 comedy Biwi No.1, starring Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, Karishma Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Tabu. The announcement featred a remix version of the track, recreated by Sachin-Jigar.

Earlier this year, Roy had shared pictures from the sets of the film from its international schedule, writing, “If any of you understand magic & the theory of a dream come true this feels like that. Working with David sir was a life long dream. His films is “friends” for me. Best experience ever. Varunaaaaa @varundvn you are the most earnest hard hard-working, loving superstar I have worked with. Unlucky for you, your acting/dancing precedes the amazing human being you are," a part of her caption read.

The comedy will mark David's return to direction after his 2020 film Coolie No. 1, which was a reboot of his own 1995 film of the same name starring Govinda. Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai will also be the fourth film where the father-son duo has worked together, after Coolie No 1, Judwaa 2 and Main Tera Hero.

Varun was recently seen on the big screen in the Karan Johar-backed Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
