Prominent actress Deepika Padukone has made history by becoming the first Indian to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame at Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced a slate of 35 famed individuals on Wednesday. Honourees were chosen across five varying categories, including motion pictures, television, live theatre/live performance, recording and sports entertainment.
"A new group of entertainment professionals in the categories of Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre/Live Performance, Radio, Recording, and Sports Entertainment have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by the Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce," the Hollywood body wrote on Instagram, listing the names.
Padukone joins the Motion Pictures list, which includes Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Chris Columbus, Marion Cotillard, Keith David, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Franco Nero, Molly Ringwald, Stanley Tucci, Carlo Ramboldi, and Tony Scott.
Other names part of the Walk of Fame Class of 2026 include Gordon Ramsay, Greg Daniels, Miley Cyrus and Shaquille O’Neal, among others. The actress responded to the honour with a simple story on Instagram, expressing her gratitude. As for her international collaborations, In 2017, Padukone made her Hollywood debut xXx: Return Of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel. She was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018 and received the TIME100 Impact Award in 2022.
The actress, who was last seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Jawaan (2023) and Kalki 2898 AD (2024), will next be seen in Atlee's film with Allu Arjun. The actress has also reportedly signed King, opposite her frequent collaborator and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Padukone was in the news recently for exiting Sandeep Vanga Reddy's Spirit, after having requested an 8-hour workday schedule. The Prabhas-starrer will now feature Triptii Dimri.
