Dharmendra Passes Away: Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Film Industry Pay Final Respects

A galaxy of Bollywood stars — including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and several others — gathered in Mumbai on Monday to bid a final farewell to Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved legends. The actor passed away weeks before what would have been his 90th birthday on December 8.

Dharmendra’s last rites were performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, where his family, close friends and colleagues from the industry came together in grief. The family is expected to issue an official statement soon.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who had collaborated with the screen icon for his last directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), shared a deeply emotional tribute on Instagram, calling his passing “the end of an era.”

Johar added that the loss leaves “a gaping hole in our industry… a space that can never be filled,” ending his tribute with the song lyrics, 'Abhi na jao chhod kar… ke dil abhi bhara nahi.' "The heavens are blessed today…. It will always be my blessing to have worked with you," he added.

Kareena Kapoor Khan also remembered the actor, sharing archival photos of Dharmendra and Raj Kapoor on her Instagram Stories with the caption “forever in power.”

Fashion designer and producer Manish Malhotra posted a picture from the sets of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, recalling his lifelong admiration for the star.
