'Dhurandhar' stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
Behind every mega film, there is a team that gives it their all. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has revealed that the cast and crew of his upcoming action thriller Dhurandhar worked tirelessly—and endlessly—for over a year to mount the film on an epic scale without once "complaining".
Dhar, who was present at the trailer launch of the film in Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), noted how the entire team of the film, from actors Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, to various heads of departments, banded together to make Dhurandhar possible, even if it meant pushing themselves to work 18 hours a day for over 18 months.
"When we started this journey, there was a gap of five years since I last made a film. We slowly got hold of people who wanted to prove themselves. Every actor, every HoD gave their all to the film. It is extraordinary how everyone put their heart and soul into it, which doesn't happen very often. A lot of times, HoDs get into a project because the money is good or it is prestigious," he said.
"But this was a project of absolute, pure intent of actors, HoDs, assistants, to even the spot boys. They all gave their sweat and blood for the film. Everyone worked 16 to 18 hours continuously for one and a half years and not even once did anyone complain. Everyone has given their 100 percent, and that's how the film happened," Dhar added.
There has been intense discussion across film industries about implementing fixed eight-hour workdays on set after Deepika Padukone reportedly requested the same from the makers of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, titles which she is no longer a part of.
According to the makers of Dhurandhar, the action thriller is based on the "incredible true-life events" featuring "pulse-pounding look into the high-stakes world of covert operatives, where every decision is a matter of life and death, and the battle for the nation is fought in the shadows." The film will release globally on December 5.
