Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' is gearing up for a grand release on March 19
The teaser for director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge is out.
The sequel to the blockbuster is set to continue the journey of Indian intelligence agent Hamza Ali Mazari / Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who operates undercover in Karachi, and penetrates the criminal syndicates and political power structures to dismantle a terror network threatening India. The teaser also indicates that we get a look into his origin story and how he became a deadly spy.
"Yeh naya Hindustan hai, yeh ghar mein ghusega bhi aur maarega bhi," says Ranveer Singh's character in a voiceover.
Directed by Dhar, Dhurandhar currently stands as the biggest Hindi film of all-time with a worldwide gross of over ₹1,300 crore. The film, released in December last year, shattered all existing Bollywood records, grossing over ₹1,000 crore in India alone.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is gearing up for a grand release on March 19, coinciding with Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi. The film will arrive in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The film will clash at the box-offfice with Yash's Toxic, which is also scheduled for a March 19 release. Apart from Singh, Dhurandhar: The Revenge also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
Following Dhurandhar’s success, reports emerged of Singh exiting Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. While the reason behind his departure wasn't confirmed, reports claimed that the actor's commitment to an apparent additional shooting days of Dhurandhar 2 was one of the roadblocks, apart from "a hike in his remuneration" after the historic success of Dhurandhar.
Next up, Singh's post-apocalyptic film, tentatively titled Pralay, will go on floors between July and August. Actor Kalyani Priyadarshan has reportedly been cast as the female lead. The film will be helmed by director Jai Mehta, who had co-directed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story with his filmmaker-father Hansal Mehta, and then made the show Lootere.
