Director Shankar's Son Arjith Shankar To Make Acting Debut With 'Lover Boy'

The romance-drama stars Arjith Shankar alongside Krithi Shetty. Producer Sudhan Sundaram believes the film will bring 'something refreshing to audiences'

Tamil cinema is set to welcome a new face with a familiar name. Arjith Shankar, the son of renowned filmmaker, S. Shankar, will be making his on-screen debut with the upcoming romance-drama, Lover Boy.

The film is directed by debutant Ashok, a former associate of filmmaker Atlee, who will also be making his directorial debut. Shankar is set to be cast alongside actress Krithi Shetty, with both taking up lead roles in the film. Shetty was last seen alongside Pradeep Ranganathan in LIK: Love Insurance Kompany, and Nalan Kumarasamy's Vaa Vaathiyaar prior to that.

Lover Boy was launched with a pooja ceremony in Chennai, with several industry figures in attendance including directors Shankar, H Vinoth, AR Murugadoss and Madhan of With Love fame, producer and distributor Lalith Kumar, Five Star Senthil, and Zee Studios’ Akshay, along with distributors Azhagar and Seenu, Think Music Santhosh, Hotstar’s Prasanna and more. The film also mark's music composer Thejas Krishna's Tamil debut.

Passion Studios' Sudhan Sundaram, who is producing the film in association with Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions, took to instagram calling the ceremony, "An auspicious start to a journey filled with love, laughter, and rosy beginnings."

He also commented on his collaboration with Narayana, saying, "from the first narration of “Love Boy” itself, we had strong belief in Ashok’s vision and the world he had created. His sincerity, dedication and clarity strengthened our confidence in this project, which we believe will offer something refreshing to audiences."
