Written and directed by Keerthiswaran, the film follows two event organisers whose chaotic lives collide in a story of love, heartbreak and redemption this Diwali.
The trailer of Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, dropped on Thursday, offering a glimpse into a story that balances humour, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Written and directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, the romantic action drama is set to hit theatres on October 17, just in time for the Diwali weekend. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film also marks the feature debut of music composer Sai Abhyankkar, with cinematography by Niketh Bommi and editing by Barath Vikraman.
In the trailer, Pradeep plays Agan, a young man struggling to find his footing while constantly reminded of his shortcomings by his father, played by Sarathkumar. His life takes a turn when he crosses paths with Kural played by Mamitha Baiju, a driven event organiser who joins his work and slowly becomes a part of his world. What begins as light-hearted camaraderie gradually unfolds into a more complex relationship that challenges both their ideas of love and purpose. While the trailer keeps much of the plot under wraps, its emotional core hints at a mix of romance, loss, and redemption.
Speaking about the film, Keerthiswaran revealed that Dude was born from his fascination with the charisma of classic Tamil cinema. “When I began writing, I kept thinking — how would Rajinikanth sir have played this at 30? Pradeep instantly connected to that energy,” the filmmaker was quoted as saying in an earlier statement. “The story is not just about love; it’s also about finding your spark again.”
The film, described by the makers as a “romantic action drama rooted in everyday chaos,” follows two event organisers who spend their days creating perfect moments for others while quietly untangling their own emotional mess. Alongside Pradeep and Mamitha, the cast includes Sarathkumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon, Aishwarya Sharma, and Dravid Selvam.
Dude will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Pradeep, who was last seen in Dragon, will also appear in Love Insurance Kompany, slated for release on December 18.
