Emraan Hashmi Reunites with 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' Director Aditya Datt for 'Gunmaaster G9'
With music by Himesh Reshammiya, 'Gunmaaster G9' is headlined by Emraan Hashmi, Genelia D’Souza and Aparshakti Khurana.
Two decades on, the Aashiq Banaya Aapne team is set to reunite for a new movie. Actor Emraan Hashmi, director Aditya Datt, and music composer Himesh Reshammiya have come together for Gunmaaster G9. Billed as a high-octane family action drama, the film will be produced by Deepak Mukut and Hunar Mukut.
Set to go on floors post monsoon, the movie also stars Genelia D’Souza, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Singh. Datt, who debuted with Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005, went on to helm the thriller Table No. 21, the Commando franchise, and the Anurag Kashyap-starrer series Bad Cop.
“When we made Aashiq Banaya Aapne, we were young, hungry, and experimental. With Gunmaaster G9, we’re still all of those things—but sharper and more evolved. It’s a full-circle moment for me," the director said in a statement.
Producer Deepak Mukut, head of Soham Rockstar Entertainment, described the film as "slick and emotional" with "mass appeal". The producer added, "We back directors like Aditya Datt who have a strong vision and a fresh take on mainstream cinema. With Emraan, Genelia, and Aparshakti onboard, we have a dream cast to bring this powerful story to life."
The team is likely to begin filming Gunmaaster G9 in Mumbai after the monsoon season ends, with Uttarakhand schedules to follow shortly thereafter. The film is slated for release in 2026.
Hashmi was last seen in the Kashmir-set action thriller Ground Zero. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film chronicled the story of a BSF officer who led the operation in which terrorist Rana Tahir Nadeem, better known as Ghazi Baba, was killed in 2003.
The actor will also be seen in Awarapan 2, which will be directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, as well as an appearance in G2, the sequel to Goodachari (2018) headlined by Adivi Sesh.
